The standard option is a 3.6-litre V6 mild hybrid pushing out 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque, with an extra 90 lb-ft available on engine restart. This configuration is already impressive enough, but there's also a 5.7-litre V8 option that generates 395 horsepower, 410 lb-ft, and an extra 130 lb-ft on launch. If that V8 isn’t exhilarating enough, at the top of the range there's a powerful 6.2-litre supercharged V8 available, boasting hugely impressive output figures of 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft. Rear-wheel drive is standard at the lower end of the Ram 1500 range, with all-wheel drive as an option, although higher trims add all-wheel drive as the default. All 2023 Ram 1500 models’ powertrains are completed by a smooth, eight-speed automatic transmission, with selectable drive modes and manual paddle control available at higher trim levels.

The raw engine power translates into exceptional capability, with maximum towing capacities sitting at the very top of the market. Even the base V6 model can haul up to 7,458 pounds with the all-wheel drive version, while the heftier 5.7-litre V8 ups the figure to 11,409 pounds.
